The Bahamas consists of some 700 islands spread over 100,000 square miles of ocean. The reefs
of the bahamas are protected and nourished by the gulf stream (a source of clean clear water coming from
south of the bahamas in the caribbean sea to the north of the bahamas into the atlantic ocean). Along with the
gulf stream the bahamas banks provides a breeding ground for many marine life forms, thus attracting larger animals
in the food chain. The bahamas provides a wide variety of diving on its world class reefs, along with
blue holes (collapsed fresh water caves fringed by reef), wrecks, stingrays, dolphins and sharks.
Many organised shark encounters are run at dive sites in the bahamas.
