The Five Lined Cardinalfish (Cheilodipterus quinquelineatus) is a relatively common tropical fish species that is a member of the ‘Cardinalfishes’ family Apogonidae. Distribution: Indo-Pacific region. Features: These species is identified by the 5 black stripes that run horizontally along the body. There is a yellow patch at the caudal peduncle with a small black spot in it. It is known to feed on small crustaceans, small fishes and gastropods. Habitat: It can be found occurring on coral reefs and in shallow lagoons where it is generally seen moving around coral branches. Depth range: 0 – 40 metres Maximum Length: 13cm
