The Bar Cheek Trevally (Carangoides plagiotaenia) is a tropical fish species and is a member of the ‘Trevallies and Jacks’ family Carangidae.

Distribution: Indo-Pacific region.

Features: The body is silver in colour and there is a distinct black bar on the edge of the preopercle. It is a predator species that is known to feed on small fishes.

Habitat: Generally seen in open water along coral reef walls and dropoffs.

Depth range: 2 – 200 metres.

Maximum Length: 50cm.
