The Goldbarred Butterflyfish (Chaetodon rainfordi) is a very pretty tropical fish species that belongs to the butteflyfishes family Chaetodontidae. This species occurs in the warm waters of southern Papua New Guinea down the east coast of Australia along the entire length of the Great Barrier Reef. The common name for this species is derived from the gold bars that run horizontal along the body. This species has a yellow body, with the gold horizontal bars that have grey bars in between them. This butterflyfish is a curious species and often swims up to divers. It can be found on coral reefs and is often found around staghorn and Acopora corals. The Goldbarred Butterflyfish (Chaetodon rainfordi) grows to a maximum length of approximately 15cm.
