The Gunther’s Wrasse (Pseudolabrus guentheri) is a subtropical species that can be found living along the east coast of Australia from Lindeman Island in Queensland down to Sydney in New South Wales. This species can be found living on rocky and coral reefs in shallow waters (less than 20 metres) and it can be commonly found in amongst sponge gardens in estuaries and coastal bays. This species varies in colour from green to brown and there is not a large colouration difference between adults and juveniles or between sexes. There are several orange lines around the head which also run through the eye. This species is known to feed on small benthic crustaceans. The Gunther’s Wrasse (Pseudolabrus guentheri) grows to a maximum length of approximately 18cm.
