The Rigid Shrimpfish (Centriscus scutatus) is a tropical fish species that belongs to the family Centriscidae and is found in the waters of the Indian and Asian Pacific region. This species looks very similar to the Coral Shrimpfish/Razorfish (Aeoliscus strigatus) however it differs by having a rigid first dorsal spine which is straight and lacking a hinge. The mid lateral stripe in the Rigid Shrimpfish is brown to red in colour where as mid lateral stripe in the Coral Shrimpfish/Razorfish is brown to black in colour. This species can be found on sheltered coral reefs or in coastal embayments where it forms small schools and move about with their heads down. The Rigid Shrimpfish (Centriscus scutatus) grows to a maximum length of approximately 15cm.
