The Silver Drummer (Kyphosus sydneyanus) is a reasonably common species found on the coastal reefs of New South Wales, South Australia and southern West Australian waters. Off the coast of Western Australia it can be found in large schools on the deep reefs. Large adults can become territorial and inhabit the same reef system for long periods of time. The tail of the species has a dark black band the body colour is silvery grey to bronzy. The Silver Drummer grows to a maximum size of 75cm.
