Eastern Wirrah(Acanthistius ocellatus)
Eastern Wirrah


The Eastern Wirrah (Acanthistius ocellatus) is a common species that can be found on coastal reefs of New South Wales but it has also been found in Eastern Victoria waters and Northern Tasmania. The species body is generally yellow to greenish in colour with blue spots all over the body. The Eastern Wirrah grows to a maximum length of approximately 50cm. Juveniles can often be found in coastal rock pools along the New South Wales coast whilst adults prefer to live in rocky crevices or caves.
