The Masked Rabbitfish (Siganus puellus) is a tropical fish species belonging to the ‘Rabbitfishes’ family Siganidae and it is also commonly referred to as the Bluelined Rabbitfish. It is known to occur in the warm waters of the Indo-Pacific region and has been recorded from various locations including the Cocos (Keeling) Islands, Australia, Indonesia, Taiwan, Philippines, Palau, Marshall Islands, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, and New Caledonia. The body of this fish is bright yellow in colour with various wavy broken pale blue lines that are vertical on the anterior part of the body and horizontal towards the posterior end. There is a black line that runs through the eye and above the eye the line turns into dark black spots. Adults are generally found in pairs from depths of 3 to 10 metres and it is known to feed on algae. The Masked Rabbitfish (Siganus puellus) grows to a maximum length of approximately 38cm.
