The Noble Feather Star (Comanthina noblis) is a large featherstar species that can be found in the tropical waters of the Indo-Pacific region. It belongs to the featherstar family Comasteridae. This species is generally yellow/orange in colour however it may be black with white, green and yellow colouration. It can be found on coral reefs in areas that have high current where it can be seen attached to ledges and sponges. It sits in areas with high current so that its sticky tentacles of its pinnate arms can catch planktonic organisms as they pass by. Several different species of commensal shrimps and squat lobsters can often be found hiding in amongst the arms. The arms of this species grow to approximately 40 cm in length.
