The Dark Tailed Snapper (Lutjanus lemniscatus) is a tropical fish that is known to occur in the waters of the Indo-Asian Pacific region. It has been recorded from India, Sri Lanka, Papua New Guinea and northern Australia including the waters of the Great Barrier Reef. This species is also commonly referred to as the Dark-Tailed Seaperch or the Yellow Streaked Snapper. The body is coloured grey-brown and the adults can have a pale red colouration. The tail is coloured black with a thin white margin on the edge and the dorsal fin can have a similar white margin. This species can be found on coastal reefs, lagoons and deep wall drop-offs down to depths of at least 80 metres. The Dark Tailed Snapper (Lutjanus lemniscatus) is known to grow to a maximum length of approximately 65cm.
