The Blue Stripe Snapper (Lutjanus kasmira) is a tropical snapper species that is a member of the Lutjanidae family. Tropical snappers, seaperches and jobfish are referred to as Lutjanids as they are all species in the family Lutjanidae. The Blue Stripe Seaperch can be recognised by the four distinctive blue lines that run along the length of the body. The upper body is coloured yellow which pales towards the underbelly. All the fins are bright yellow. This species looks similar to the Five Lined Snapper (Lutjanus quinquelineatus) however it lacks the black spot on the upper flank of the body which is a key characteristic of the Five Lined Snapper. This species is known to occur on the coral reefs of the Indo-Pacific region and has been recorded from depths of 1 to 265 metres.
