The Sea Star Shrimp (Periclimenes soror) is a tropical crustacean species that is known to occur in the waters of the Indo-Pacific region. It is a member of the ‘Commensal Shrimps’ family Pontoniinae. This species can be found living on sea stars such as Acanthaster plancki, Linckia multiflora, Asteropsis carinifera and Choriaster sp. Up to 20 shrimp have been found on a single seastar however 1 or 2 is more common. The Sea Star Shrimp (Periclimenes soror) grows to a maximum length of approximately 1.5cm.
