The Marble Cone (Conus marmoreus) is a venomous cone shell species that is a member of the Conidae family. It is known to occur in the central Indo-Pacific region from Sri Lanka to tropical Australia and southern Japan across to Fiji and the Marshall Islands. The shell of this species is coloured yellow and has a black patter forming triangular shapes all over the shell. A rare colouration of this species shows a red pattern. It can be found living on coral reefs and on sandy and rubble bottoms adjacent to reefs. It feeds on various gastropods however its toxin’s are not known to impact on mammals. The Marble Cone (Conus marmoreus) grows to a maximum length of approximately 13cm.
