The Yellow Striped Leatherjacket (Meuschenia flavolineata) is a common leatherjacket species that belongs to the family Monacanthidae. These species is found in the cooler waters of southern Australia from Sydney in New South Wales around to Geraldton in Western Australia. It is also recorded in the waters of northern Tasmania. The body colour of this species is generally grey, dark brown or black. This species can be recognised by the yellow blotch on the caudal peduncle; the caudal peduncle being the section in front of the tail. This species can be found on coastal rocky reefs and is often found moving in amongst kelp beds. It can be in water as shallow as 5 metres to depths of 30 metres. The Yellow Striped Leatherjacket (Meuschenia flavolineata) grows to a maximum length of approximately 30 cm.
