The Seawhip Goby (Bryaninops yongei) is a very small goby species that has its common name derived from its residency on seawhips. It is a tropical species that is found in the warm waters of the western Pacific in locations such as the Great Barrier Reef, Hawaii, Papua New Guinea and the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. This species lives on the seawhip Cirrhipathes anquina at depths from 3 to 45 metres; sometimes they are in male / female pairs. There is generally only one pair per seawhip. The Seawhip Goby can be recognised by its semi-transparent body which has a series of white dashes internally with some small red spots on the outside. The Seawhip Goby (Bryaninops yongei) grows to a maximum length of approximately 4cm.
