The Ear-spot Leatherjacket (Pervagor janthinosoma) is a tropical fish species that belongs to the leatherjacket fish family Monacanthidae. This species is distributed throughout the tropical waters of the Indo-Pacific and has been recorded in locations such as east Africa, Japan, Samoa and Australia. It can be along the entire Great Barrier Reef down to Sydney in New South Wales. The Ear-spot Leatherjacket is best recognised by its yellow-orange caudal fin, a dark blotch over its gill opening and thin narrow black lines that run along the body. This fish can be found on shallow coral reefs from depths of 1 to 20 metres.
