The Snowflake Moray (Gymnothorax nebulosa) has also been taxonomically classified as Echidna nebulosa however it is now considered to be of the genera Gymnothorax. It is also commonly referred to as the ‘Starry Moray’. It is known to occur in the warm tropical waters of the Indo-Pacific region and can be found living on coral reefs from depths of 1 to 30 metres. It can be recognised by its white coloured body with two rows of large dendritic black blotches and the black spots between the blotches become irregularly linear with age. The eyes of this moray are also coloured yellow. It is known to primarily feed on crustaceans, particularly crabs. This species can prove to be quite shy and is elusive to photograph. The Snowflake Moray (Gymnothorax nebulosa) grows to a maximum length of approximately 70cm.
