The Silver Biddy (Gerres subfasciatus) is a temperate water species that is endemic to the waters of Australia and is also referred to as the ‘Common Silver Biddy’. In Australia it is found in northern waters and on the east coast it occurs as far south as Wollongong in New South Wales and on the west coast it occurs down to Albany. The body is coloured silver and it can be recognised by its deeply forked caudal fin. It can be found in the waterways of coastal estuaries, bays and harbours and is generally found over sandy bottoms or in amongst seagrass meadows. The Silver Biddy (Gerres subfasciatus) grows to a maximum length of approximately 20cm.
