Vercos Tambja(Tambja verconis)

The Verco’s Tambja ( Tambja verconis ) nudibranch belongs to the Polyceridae family. It is one of the most attractive and colourful nudibranch species and is fairly common around southern Australia waters and in northeastern Tasmania. It has a brilliant yellow body with blue spot markings, the Rhinopores are generally black and the gills have black/green colouration. This species is quite often found in pairs and can often be seen by divers mating. This colourful nudibranch is generally found on its food, the bushy plant-like bryozoan Bugula dentata. It has been recorded from depths of 2 to 40 metres and grows to a maximum length of 13cm.
