The Gold-Spotted Chromodoris (Chromodoris aureopurpurea) is a very colourful nudibranch species that belongs to the Chromodorididae family and is distributed throughout the waters of the Indo-West Pacific. The species was originally described from the coast of China and can be found along the east coast of Australia as far south as Sydney. The body of the species is white and has many yellow/light brown dots all over the centre part of the body. The mantle edge has a band of diffuse watery purple and on its inside edge is a submarginal band of large deep purple spots. The rhinopores and gills of the species are a purple/brownish colour. Chromodoris aureopurpurea grows to a maximum size of approximately 5cm.
