The Coral Rockcod (Cephalopholis miniata) is a cod species that belongs to the family Serranidae. It is a tropical fish species that is found throughout the Indo-Pacific region. It is found in the tropical waters of Australia from Coral Bay in Western Australia around the north to the Solitary Islands in northern NSW. It has a red/orange body that is covered in numerous small bright blue spots. Juveniles are generally orange without the blue spots. The Coral Rockcod can be found by divers along coral wall drops offs and in sheltered lagoons. It can be found hiding under ledges or in caves. The Coral Rockcod grows to a maximum size of approximately 40cm.
