Twotone Wrasse(Halichoeres prosopeion)
Twotone Wrasse

The Twotone Wrasse (Halichoeres prosopeion) is a tropical wrasse fish species that is a member of the family Labridae. The distribution of this species is the Western Pacific Ocean and it is known to occur in Indonesia, Palau, Samoa, southern Japan, Solomon Islands and north east Australia. It is easily identified by its colour pattern as the head region is blue/purple in colour whilst the rear section is coloured yellow. It is these two tone colours that led to the common name for the species. There is generally a small black spot on the front of the dorsal fin. It can be found occurring on coral reefs from depths of 2 to 40 metres. The Twotone Wrasse (Halichoeres prosopeion) is known to grow to a maximum length of approximately 13cm.
