The Pearly Monocle Bream (Scolopsis margaritifer) is a tropical fish species that can be found in the warm tropical waters of the Western Pacific Ocean. Its distribution extends from the South China Sea to Vanuatu and northwestern Australia. It can be recognised by its upper body which is Oliver in colour whilst the underbody is white. There are two pearly white stripes on the snout in front of the eyes. The lower lobe of the caudal fin is reddish. Juveniles can be recognised by their white body, a black midlateral stripe and they may have a narrow black stripe along the back. This species is generally found on sandy bottoms adjacent to reefs and it is known to feed on crustaceans, worms, molluscs and small fishes. The Pearly Monocle Bream (Scolopsis margaritifer) grows to a maximum length of approximately 28cm.
