The Celestial Phyllidia (Phyllidia coelestis) is a tropical opisthobranch species that belongs to the ‘warty’ nudibranch family Phyllidiidae. It can be found occurring on the tropical reefs of the Indo-western pacific region and has been recorded in the south China Sea, Timor Sea, South Africa, Indonesia, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands and the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. This species can be distinguished from other similar-looking phyllidiids by its colour and pattern. Phyllidia coelestis is best recognised by the "Y" shape of the blue-grey dorsal ridges and its the yellow-capped mid-dorsal tubercles (which never form a median ridge as in Phyllidia varicosa), blue-grey mantle margin; and the uniformly grey foot without a dark stripe. It can be found living on coral reefs and can be common in some areas. The Celestial Phyllidia (Phyllidia coelestis) grows to a maximum length of approximately 5cm.
