The Variable Aphelodoris (Aphelodoris varia) nudibranch is a species that is commonly found in the waters of New South Wales in Australia. It can be commonly seen by divers in areas around Port Stephens and Sydney and is one of the most commonly seen nudibranch species along the NSW coast. It is believed thatthe species is endemic to the waters of NSW. It can be found in shallow water to depths of at least 30 metres. It is often referred to as the ‘Pancake Nudibranch’ because of it’s colour and pattern on the body. The species can vary in colour but the body will generally have a creamy colour with brown markings and lines on it.

The Aphelodoris varia nudibranch grows to a maximum size of approximately 8cm.
