The Robo’s Chromodoris (Chromodoris roboi) nudibranch is a colourful species that belongs to the Chromodorididae family. It can be found long the east coast of Australia from the Great Barrier Reef in Queensland to Sydney in New South Wales. It has also been found on the west coast of Australia in the waters between Perth and Esperance. Chromodoris roboi is a newly named species as it was only identified in about 1998 - there is still a lot to be learnt about its taxonomy. It generally has a yellow body with white spots on it and its gills and rhinopores are generally a purple/dark maroon colour. It also has a white mantle edge with small purple markings that run vertically on it.
The Chromodoris roboi nudibranch grows to a maximum size of approximately 5cm
