Ring eyed Hawkfish


The Ring-eyed Hawkfish (Paracirrhites arcatus) is a tropical species that belongs to the Hawkfish family Cirrhitidae. It is distributed throughout the Indo pacific region and around the northern half of Australia. It is found in Australia from the New South Wales/Queensland border around the north to Coral Bay in Western Australia It is generally found in shallow depths on coral reefs, often perched on top of Acopora coral. It is best recognised by a tricoloured U shaped mark of orange, black and blue that extends diagonally upwards from the rear of the eye. The Ring-eyed Hawkfish grows to a maximum size of approximately 60cm.
