The Red-Netted Chromodoris (Chromodoris tinctoria) is a species that is common through out the waters of the Indo-West Pacific region. It has been recorded from the waters of Australia, New Caledonia, Tanzania, Malaysia, South Korea, Egypt, Malaysia, Indonesia, Taiwan, Solomon Islands and Japan. This species is known to show a considerable amount of colour variation which leads to it often being confused with other similar species such as Chromodoris recticulata. Most of the variation in the species occurs along the mantle edge as there is sometimes red spots, or there is a distinct submarginal band, and sometimes the white body is absent, the red reticulate pattern running right to the golden yellow mantle edge. It generally can be found with a white body with red all over it and it normally has red gills and rhinopores. It can grow to be quite a large nudibranch and grows to at least 10cm in length.
