The Mosaic Leatherjacket (Eubalichthys mosaicus) belongs to the Leatherjackets family Monacanthidae and is distributed around the southern waters of Australia. It can be found from southern Queensland around the southern part of Australia to Shark Bay in Western Australia. Juveniles are circular in shape with irregular pale blue lines that run along the body. They are more ‘rounded’ than other leatherjacket species however as they grow older the adults become more elongate. Adults can be found on coastal reefs in deeper waters whilst the juveniles can be found in the coastal estuaries and embayments. Juveniles can often been seen swimming in amongst pylons and sponge gardens. The Mosaic Leatherjacket grows to a maximum size of approximately 60 cm.
