Flashing File Shell(Ctenoides ales)
Flashing File Shell

The Flashing File Shell (Ctenoides ales) is a very unique tropical species that can be found living on tropical reefs. Its distribution includes the waters of Indo-western Pacific region and it has been recorded in the Philippines, Malayasia, the Solomon Islands and on the Great Barrier Reef off Australia. This unusual species can be found living on reef walls and it has the ability to roll its lips which produce a flashing line. These lines fire a couple of times a second and it looks like an electric current. This species is not common however if its found it will generally remain in the same location for many years.
