The Yellowbar Angelfish (Pomacanthus maculosus) is a large angelfish species that can be found in the warm tropical waters western Indian Ocean including the Red Sea, Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman. This species can be found on coral reefs from depths of 4 to 50 metres and can often be found around shipwrecks. This species has a blue coloured body however the tail is a light blue/white colour. On the side of the body there is a large yellow bar hence the common name for the species. This species is known to feed on sponges, ascidians and benthic algae’s. It is generally found to be solitary. The Yellowbar Angelfish (Pomacanthus maculosus) is known to grow to a maximum length of approximately 50cm.
