The Wooly Elysia (Elysia tomentosa) is a small opisthobranch species that belongs to the family Plakobranchidae. It is known to occur in the waters of the Indo-western pacific region and has been recorded from New Caledonia, Solomon Islands, Hawaii and around the northern section of Australia. This species was first described from individuals found in the Abrolhos Islands in Western Australia. This species can be found on soft and hard substrates, in amongst seagrass meadows and on algae plants. This species can be found feeding on caulerpa plants and in New South Wales it has been recorded feeding on Caulerpa taxifolia. The Wooly Elysia (Elysia tomentosa) is known to grow to a maximum length of approximately 3cm.
