Banded Tube Anemone(Pachycerianthus delwynae)
Banded Tube Anemone

The Banded Tube Anemone (Pachycerianthus delwynae) was first described in 1995 by Mr Carter who collected several specimens from Sydney Harbour in New South Wales - Australia. This species is known to occur on the central coast of New South Wales and can be found in estuaries and harbours from Port Stephens to Sydney, however its range may extend further. The Banded Tube Anemone can be recognised by a regular pattern of pale bands that are found around the outer tentacles. When this species is not feeding and is resting the outer tips of the tentacles form tight corkscrews. The inner tentacles of this species are generally cream and lighter coloured than the larger outer tentacles. The Banded Tube Anemone (Pachycerianthus delwynae) has a tentacle length of at least 10cm.
