The Yellow-finned Angelfish (Chaetodontoplus meredithi) is recognised by its colourful face markings and yellow margin on the caudal tail fin. It belongs to the Angelfishes family Pomacanthidae. The adults have a distinct blue face and numerous yellow spots and the body is black with a white band behind the head. The species is found on the east coast of Australia from the top of Queensland to the Solitary Island Marine Park in NSW. Adults are often found on deep outer reefs and can also be found in harbours and estuaries, usually in areas that have good sponge gardens. Juveniles can be found in amongst coastal jetties which have good sponge growth for them to feed on. It grows to a maximum size of 30cm.
