The Red Spotted Nembrotha (Nembrotha cf guttata) is a very rare species that looks very similar to Nembrotha guttata however the colouration is slightly different. It is also similar in appearance to with Nembrotha cristata and Nembrotha kubaryana. This species has been photographed in the Philippines, Vietnam and Japan however its distribution could be broader. This species was described by Nathalie Yonow (1993) from a single specimen in the Maldives. The body of this animal is black and is scattered with orange or red pustules whilst the rhinophores and gills are black-grey with occasionally white dusting. The Red Spotted Nembrotha (Nembrotha cf guttata) grows to at least 5cm in length.
