Gold Saddle Rabbitfish

The Gold Saddle Rabbitfish (Siganus guttatus) is a tropical fish species that belongs to the ‘Rabbitfish/Spinefeet’ fish family Siganidae. These species are unique in that they have a spine at each end of their pelvic fins and three soft rays between. This species can be found occurring in the warm tropical waters of the Eastern Indian Ocean and Western Pacific region. It is known to occur in the Andaman Islands, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia (including Irian Jaya), Viet Nam, southern and eastern China, Taiwan, South China Sea, the Philippines, and Palau. A similar looking species Siganus lineatus replaces it to the west, south and east of the region described above.
