The Durban Shrimp (Rhynchocinetes durbanensis) is a small shrimp species that belongs to the crustacean family Rhynchocinetidae. Species in the Rhynchocinetidae family can be distinguished by the relatively long moveable rostrum that is hinged to the carapace’s front margin. The Durban Shrimp (Rhynchocinetes durbanensis) can often be found in small groups hiding in crevices and caves. During the night they are easier t find as they come to the front of their hole. They are generally found on rocky and coral reefs and can also be found on shipwrecks in tropical waters. The Durban Shrimp grows to a maximum length of approximately 5cm.
