Caulerpa trifaria is a green marine plant that is found in the temperate waters of southern Australia. It is distributed from Cottesloe Beach in Western Australia around the south to Western Port in Victoria. It is also found around Tasmania where it is a dominant plant in the sandy sheltered bays of southern Tasmania. This plant belongs to the Caulerpaceae family. Which are known to grow from a horizontal stolon and are able to spread quickly over large areas of substrate. Caulerpa species can often become the most dominant plant species on reef and sandy areas in the waters of southern Australia. The maximum thallus height of Caulerpa trifaria is approximately 25 cm.
